India’s prominent Hindu spiritual leader, Jagadguru Rambhadracharya, has requested Pakistan-administered Kashmir as “Guru Dakshina” (a traditional gift from disciple to teacher) from Indian Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi. The unusual request was made during the Army Chief’s visit to Rambhadracharya’s ashram in Chitrakoot, Madhya Pradesh, on May 28.
According to a report by NDTV, the guru shared a spiritual exchange with General Dwivedi and expressed his desire to serve the nation through divine strength attained from Ram Mantra initiation. Drawing parallels to Hanuman’s legendary journey to Lanka, Rambhadracharya stated that he too had gained similar spiritual energy and now wished to see Pakistan-administered Kashmir returned to India.
The meeting followed heightened military tensions between India and Pakistan after the April 22 terrorist attack in Pahalgam, which killed 26 civilians. In response, India launched Operation Siddhar on May 7, targeting multiple terror bases across the border. A ceasefire was reached on May 10 after days of cross-border conflict.
Rambhadracharya, a respected Sanskrit scholar and author, has long held influence in Hindu spiritual and academic circles. His request comes at a time of renewed nationalist fervor following the military operation.
