Israel has blocked a planned diplomatic visit by top Arab leaders to Ramallah, the administrative capital of the Palestinian Authority in the West Bank. The high-level delegation—comprising the foreign ministers of Jordan, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates—was scheduled to meet in Ramallah on Sunday, June 1, as part of growing international efforts to discuss a ceasefire and future statehood for Palestine. Instead, the group was forced to meet in Amman, Jordan, where they held talks with King Abdullah II on the Gaza conflict and post-war recovery plans.
The decision by Israel to bar the visit drew strong regional backlash. Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman al-Safadi accused Israel of destroying all chances for regional peace. Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan called the move further evidence of Israel’s extremist policies, while Egypt’s Foreign Minister Badr Abdellatti warned of coordinated resistance against any Israeli attempt to displace Palestinians from Gaza and the West Bank. The diplomatic standoff highlights deepening tensions over the future of Palestine amid the ongoing conflict in Gaza.
