In a significant diplomatic development, Iran and Pakistan have agreed to join forces in confronting Israel to stop its ongoing aggression in Gaza, which is under the control of Palestinian group Hamas. The announcement came during a meeting between Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, according to Iran’s state news agency IRNA and AFP.
Despite past tensions—most notably Iran’s airstrike in Pakistan’s Balochistan region earlier this year—the two countries are signaling a fresh start. Prime Minister Shehbaz, on his visit to Tehran, expressed full support for Iran’s peaceful nuclear program and pledged that Pakistan would never allow its territory to be used against Iran.
Both leaders strongly condemned the Western world’s silence on the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, with Shehbaz Sharif calling the deaths of over 54,000 Palestinians a “deep disgrace” to humanity. Khamenei emphasized that coordinated efforts between Iran and Pakistan could yield effective action to stop Israeli crimes.
The two nations also discussed strengthening cooperation on border security, counterterrorism, and regional economic reforms, marking a new phase in bilateral relations amid shared concerns over the Gaza conflict.
