Instagram Threads is rolling out a new feature that lets creators add up to five external links to their profile bios, positioning itself as a competitor to link-in-bio platforms like Linktree, Beacons, and Koji. This update allows users to direct followers to a range of online content — such as blogs, newsletters, personal websites, or other social media profiles — all from a single profile.
With over 350 million monthly active users, Threads is using this move to expand its role as a creator-friendly platform while also chipping away at the utility of third-party services that gained popularity due to social platforms traditionally allowing only one bio link.
Beyond adding links, Threads will also offer creators detailed insights to track link performance, including metrics on how many people clicked on profile and post-shared links.
Meta also announced an upcoming “weekly recap” feature for Threads Insights. This tool will provide creators with a summary of their weekly activity — including post counts, views, follower growth, replies, and engagement tips — allowing them to refine content strategies and boost audience interaction, even if it promotes content outside Meta’s ecosystem.
