In a powerful display of nationalist sentiment, Inqilab Mancha declared unwavering loyalty to Bangladesh during a protest rally at Shahbagh on Sunday. Spokesperson Sharif Osman Hadi proclaimed that the organization would never abandon the nation, even under the direst circumstances.
Evoking the patriotic legacy of former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia, Hadi echoed her famous words, “I have no country other than Bangladesh,” positioning Inqilab Mancha as defenders of that nationalist tradition. The rally, held under the “July Oikya” banner, condemned alleged “Indian conspiracies” and called for unity among opposition forces to protect national sovereignty.
Hadi’s speech drew historical parallels with the 2007–08 political crisis, known as the “1/11 period,” and highlighted the BNP’s role during that time. In a key moment, he extended a conditional offer of alliance to the BNP: “You stood for Bangladesh during 1/11 and we stood by you… Stand with the people once again and we will always stand by your side.”
The statement marks a strategic effort to consolidate nationalist opposition forces around shared values and a common front against perceived foreign influence.
