Indonesia has officially announced that Eid al-Adha will be celebrated on Friday, June 6, following the sighting of the Zilhajj moon on Tuesday evening. Gulf News reported that the first day of Zilhajj in the world’s largest Muslim-majority country will be observed on May 28.
Eid al-Adha, one of the most significant Islamic festivals, falls on the 10th of Zilhajj in the lunar calendar and commemorates the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim to sacrifice his son in obedience to God.
