The Indian Border Security Force (BSF) has forcibly returned at least 105 Bangladeshi nationals—including numerous women and children—through border points in six districts: Comilla, Panchagarh, Lalmonirhat, Moulvibazar, Khagrachari, and Feni. These incidents took place between Wednesday night and Thursday morning.
In each case, the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) intercepted and detained the returnees after they crossed the border, with legal proceedings currently underway.
In Comilla, 13 people were pushed in via the Golabari border around 4:00 a.m., confirmed by BGB-10 Commander Lt Col Mir Ali Ejaz.
In Panchagarh, 21 individuals, mostly detained previously in Gujarat and later flown to Kolkata, were handed to BSF and then forced into Bangladesh through the Borobari border. BGB’s Nilphamari Battalion-56 responded and later held a flag meeting with the BSF.
In Lalmonirhat, BGB detained 20 more individuals—mostly women and children—near the Patgram border. Locals claimed over 50 people had been pushed back in multiple phases that same night.
In Moulvibazar, seven residents of Kurigram were pushed back via the Muroichhara border in Kulaura upazila, making it the second such incident at that location in just over a week.
In Feni, BSF pushed back 39 individuals through Chhagalnaiya and Fulgazi borders. Verification showed many had lived in India since as early as 2007, often working in brick kilns. Some had been detained and deported after long stays in Gujarat and other Indian states.
Authorities say legal proceedings are underway and proper protocol is being followed. BGB officials have protested these unauthorized returns, and flag meetings were conducted in some sectors. Local law enforcement and administrative officials are now handling the legal disposition of the returnees.
