A new round of indirect negotiations between Hamas and Israel has begun in Doha, Qatar, with both sides entering the discussions “without any preconditions,” according to a senior Hamas official. The talks come amid a fresh wave of Israeli military operations in Gaza.
“These talks have started without preconditions and are open to all issues,” said Taher al-Nunu, a senior Hamas representative. “Hamas will present its stance on key matters, particularly an end to the war, Israeli withdrawal, and a prisoner exchange agreement.”
Previous efforts to negotiate an end to the conflict have failed to yield results. A two-month ceasefire collapsed on March 18 when Israel resumed its military offensive in Gaza.
Meanwhile, the humanitarian crisis in the region has worsened significantly. UN agencies report that renewed fighting has followed Israel’s total blockade on aid, triggering critical shortages of food, water, fuel, and medical supplies for Gaza’s population.
