Govt Moves to Resolve TNZ Group Wage Crisis, Vows Full Payment Within 7 Days

The interim government has announced a bold plan to resolve the ongoing wage and benefit crisis affecting workers of the TNZ Group, pledging to clear all outstanding payments within the next seven working days.

In a statement issued by the Chief Adviser’s press wing on Tuesday night, it was confirmed that the Ministry of Labour and Employment will lead the initiative, which involves liquidating TNZ Group assets to settle worker dues.

Key measures include the sale of the company’s washing plant and the personal residence of its owner, located in Dhaka’s upscale Mohakhali DOHS. Authorities are also seeking international cooperation to track down and repatriate the group’s owner, believed to be overseas. A red alert will be issued through Interpol to facilitate his return.

To prevent further evasion, travel bans have been imposed on TNZ Group’s directors and top management.

The government noted that an agreement has been reached with all stakeholders, including worker representatives. In response, labor leaders have agreed to withdraw their planned protest in front of the Shrom Bhaban.

To ensure accountability, the group’s Director of Finance will remain in government custody until all worker payments are completed.

These actions follow weeks of intense protests by garment workers demanding unpaid wages and Eid bonuses. TNZ Group, which runs several factories in Gazipur, reportedly owes wages and allowances to thousands of employees, sparking national concern and calls for swift justice.
