The government has announced a symbolic 1-minute mobile internet blackout on July 18 to commemorate last year’s historic student-public movement. The decision was shared Wednesday night via the official Facebook page of the Chief Advisor’s Office.
The blackout will be implemented by the Department of Posts and Telecommunications and the Department of Information and Communication Technology.
This symbolic move references the nationwide internet shutdown imposed by the former Awami League government at 9 pm on July 18, 2024, during the height of mass protests.
