Government Reduces Income Tax on Gas Bills from 2% to 0.6%

The National Board of Revenue has reduced the income tax deduction at source on gas bill payments from 2% to 0.6%, Titas Gas authorities announced on Monday.

Effective from July 1, customers paying gas bills to Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution PLC will now have only 0.6% tax deducted at source instead of the previous 2%. According to the notification, the tax should be deducted after excluding VAT from the bill amount and deposited in the government treasury before paying the remaining amount to the company’s bank account.

This move aims to provide relief to consumers by lowering their tax burden on gas bill payments.
