Government Plans Part-Time Job Opportunities for Students to Boost Financial Independence

The government is creating part-time job opportunities for students in various departments to support their financial independence while reducing state expenses, announced Asif Mahmud Sajeeb Bhuiyan, advisor to the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives, and Youth and Sports.

In a recent Facebook post, Sajeeb stated that many government office positions do not require full-time, permanent employees and could be filled by students on a part-time basis. “This will reduce government costs and help students become financially independent,” he wrote.

Speaking as chief guest at an event at Dhaka North City Corporation’s Nagar Bhaban on Saturday, he noted that, similar to developed countries, about 1,000 students have already been appointed as part-time traffic police assistants after August 5. The government is now considering similar part-time roles in other departments.

“We are working on the matter and discussions are underway on how to appoint them,” he added, emphasising that these opportunities will create a win-win situation for both the government and the student community.
