Government Offices to Remain Open May 24 as Part of Adjusted Eid Holiday Schedule

All government offices in Bangladesh will remain open on Saturday, May 24, in accordance with a recent executive order issued by the Ministry of Public Administration. The move comes as part of a broader plan to accommodate extended Eid-ul-Azha holidays, ensuring that essential public services continue while granting government employees a total of 10 consecutive days off in early June.

This decision was finalized during an Advisory Council meeting held on May 6 at the Secretariat. To balance the upcoming extended break, the government declared that offices would remain operational on two regular off-days: May 17 and May 24.

Additionally, June 11 and 12 (Wednesday and Thursday) have been declared official holidays by executive order, extending the Eid-ul-Azha holiday period from June 5 to June 14.

The government clarified that essential services such as electricity, water, gas, fire service, ports, sanitation, communication services (telephone and internet), postal operations, and emergency transportation will remain outside the purview of this holiday schedule. Hospitals, emergency responders, and medical logistics services will also continue uninterrupted.

Offices and personnel involved in emergency and critical operations are expected to maintain regular functions throughout the extended holiday to ensure national infrastructure and vital services remain unaffected.
