Home Affairs Adviser Lt Gen (retd) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury stated on Wednesday that security and logistical preparations for Eid-ul-Azha are on track and “satisfactory.” Speaking after inspecting a cattle market in North Shahjahanpur, Dhaka, he highlighted key measures taken to ensure a safe and organized trading environment.
Ansar personnel have been deployed at all cattle markets nationwide, with control rooms jointly operated by leaseholders and police to maintain order. Veterinary screenings are in place to keep sick animals out, while on-site medical teams are available for emergencies.
The adviser stressed the need for fair cattle pricing, aiming to protect both farmers from financial loss and buyers from inflated rates. He also announced a mandate for each cattle-transporting truck to display banners indicating their designated market, a step intended to curb unauthorized trade.
As Eid approaches, the government is pursuing a coordinated strategy to manage the seasonal cattle trade with a focus on safety, transparency, and economic fairness.
