Prince Harald von Hohenzollern, a member of Germany’s historic royal House of Hohenzollern, has died unexpectedly of a heart attack at the age of 63 while visiting Namibia. His wife, Princess Josefa von Hohenzollern, confirmed his death in a heartfelt social media post on Wednesday, expressing deep sorrow and announcing a pause in her mayoral re-election campaign to grieve and care for their unborn child, due in a few days.
The couple married in September 2024 after meeting at a trade fair in 2022. Harald belonged to the royal dynasty dating back to 1061, which ruled Brandenburg, Prussia, Romania, and the German Empire until it was overthrown after World War I. Although the monarchy was abolished, the family remains prominent in European aristocratic society. Harald’s sudden passing has left the royal family, the town of Leonberg, and his pregnant wife mourning his loss.
