A Dhaka court has placed Sabina Akhter Tuhin, former MP and ex-president of the Dhaka Metropolitan North Youth Women’s League, on a two-day remand in a case filed under the Anti-Terrorism Act.
Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Partha Bhadra issued the order on Monday after the investigation officer requested a seven-day remand, while Tuhin’s lawyer sought bail. Following hearings from both sides, the court granted a two-day remand.
Tuhin was arrested by the Detective Branch on June 22 from her father’s home in Nawabganj upazila and sent to jail the following day.
The case alleges that on April 4, members of banned organisations Chhatra League and Jubo Mohila League, including Tuhin and former Jubo Mohila League vice-president Ishrat Jahan Nasrin, held a procession near the Planning Ministry demanding the resignation of advisor Dr Muhammad Yunus. The complaint accuses them of conspiring to endanger state security, unity, and sovereignty. The investigation is ongoing.
