The National Sports Council (NSC) has revoked Faruk Ahmed’s nomination as a Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) councilor, effectively removing him from the position of BCB president. The move followed a no-confidence letter signed by eight BCB directors and submitted to the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
Speculation swirled Friday morning that Faruk had fled the country, as his phone was switched off. However, the former national team captain reactivated his phone and publicly denied the rumors, calling them “false” and the result of a prolonged conspiracy. He announced plans to hold a press conference to address the issue formally.
In the meantime, the NSC has nominated Aminul Islam Bulbul, another former Bangladesh captain, as the new councilor. The BCB is expected to approve his appointment during a board meeting on Friday afternoon, where he is likely to be elected the new BCB president.
