Faridpur OC Withdrawn After Alleged Attack on Student Activist

Md Safar Ali, the officer-in-charge of Nagarkanda Police Station in Faridpur, has been withdrawn following an alleged attack on Boishakhi Islam Borsha, an organiser of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement (ADSM). The incident occurred on Friday in the Bhobukdia area under Dangi union, shortly after Borsha had filed a complaint at the police station. The attack has triggered widespread outrage both locally and nationally. Faridpur police confirmed that OC Safar Ali has been reassigned to police lines for administrative reasons. Activists have criticized the lack of protection for grassroots leaders. Safar Ali had held the post since September 14, 2024.
