England wrapped up their first innings at 565 for 6 before lunch on Day 2 of their one-off Test match against Zimbabwe at Trent Bridge on Friday, following a dominant performance with the bat.
Resuming the day on 498-3 after a commanding opening day, England quickly lost Ollie Pope, who was dismissed for 171 after adding just two runs to his overnight score. Skipper Ben Stokes departed cheaply for 9, while Harry Brook added a brisk 58 off 50 deliveries before being bowled by Zimbabwe pacer Blessing Muzarabani.
Following Brook’s dismissal, England declared the innings with Jamie Smith unbeaten on 4. Muzarabani was the standout bowler for Zimbabwe, finishing with figures of 3 for 143 in the four-day Test match.
This match marks the first Test meeting between England and Zimbabwe in 22 years, reviving a long-dormant rivalry at the international level.
