Dhrubajit Karmakar, a 22-year-old third-year Computer Science student at Mymensingh Engineering College, died by suicide on Sunday after being caught cheating during an exam. He was found hanging in his dorm room shortly after being removed from the examination hall. In a handwritten note left behind, Dhrubajit expressed remorse to his parents and placed blame on Bangladesh’s education system for the unbearable pressure he faced. The incident has drawn attention to the mental health struggles of students and the intense academic pressure within the system. College authorities confirmed the incident, noting Dhrubajit had shown signs of emotional distress prior to the tragedy. Legal proceedings and an investigation are currently underway.
