DSE and Banks to Operate on Two Saturdays Ahead of Eid-ul-Azha Holidays

The Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) announced on Monday that trading will remain open on two upcoming Saturdays—May 17 and May 24—to accommodate the extended Eid-ul-Azha holiday period.

Although Saturdays are typically non-working days, this special arrangement has been made in anticipation of a 10-day market closure from June 5 to June 14. The extended break aligns with government-declared public holidays and regular weekend closures.

The government has declared June 11 and 12 as official Eid holidays, while June 13 and 14 fall on Friday and Saturday, respectively—both standard weekend holidays.

In line with this move, the Department of Off-site Supervision (DOS) of Bangladesh Bank has directed all scheduled banks to remain open on May 17 and May 24 as well.

While both banks and the stock market will remain closed on June 11 and 12, Bangladesh Bank has clarified that all bank branches, sub-branches, and booths located in ports and customs areas—including sea, land, and airports—will continue operations 24/7, except on the day of Eid itself.
