Drake Announces ‘Iceman’ Album Release with Bold Toronto Ice Stunt

Drake has confirmed that his ninth studio album, Iceman, will be released on May 15, revealing the news through a minimal social media post paired with an eye-catching promotional stunt in his hometown of Toronto. The 39-year-old artist shared the date on Instagram alongside a simple graphic reading “ICEMAN MAY 15,” keeping the announcement understated online.

However, offline, Drake’s team took a far more dramatic approach. A massive ice block structure—reportedly around 15 feet high and 20 feet long—was installed in a downtown Toronto parking lot, with the album’s release date embedded inside. Fans quickly gathered at the site, some attempting to break into the structure using tools like sledgehammers and even a blowtorch, despite visible warnings advising against touching the installation due to safety risks.

The stunt reflects Drake’s desire to move away from traditional album rollouts. In a previous interview, he expressed frustration with the predictable “single, video, album” formula, noting his interest in more creative and risky ways to engage audiences.

With Iceman set to arrive in just weeks, the unconventional launch strategy has already generated buzz, signaling that Drake is continuing to experiment not only with his music but also with how it reaches fans.
