Doja Cat Announces Pop-Driven Fifth Album ‘Vie’ with ’80s Nostalgic Vibes

Doja Cat has revealed that her upcoming fifth studio album, Vie, will be a “pop-driven project,” despite previously stating she no longer found pop music exciting. In an interview with V Magazine, the Kiss Me More singer explained her perspective on pop, saying it’s often seen as a sport rather than music but emphasized her intention to embrace the genre with this album.

She shared that Vie will experiment with synths and an ’80s-inspired aesthetic, using Lo-Fi sounds and samples to evoke subtle nostalgia without being overtly retro. Doja also highlighted her vocal growth, expressing surprise at her expanded abilities and describing how she has learned to use her voice more effectively as an instrument.

While Vie does not yet have a release date, it will be her first album since Scarlet, which was released in September 2023.
