Disney is introducing a wide range of digital enhancements designed to make planning and booking vacations at Walt Disney World Resort easier, faster, and less stressful for guests. The updates, which will roll out across the My Disney Experience mobile app and DisneyWorld.com, are part of the company’s ongoing effort to streamline the vacation planning process while improving the overall guest experience.
The initiative builds on several recent changes Disney has already implemented, including simplifying its skip-the-line reservation system by renaming Lightning Lane products and allowing guests to purchase them before their trip rather than daily during their visit. According to Disney, these updates have significantly improved guest satisfaction and ease of use.
Company representatives said guest feedback plays a central role in determining which improvements are made. Disney also evaluates business insights and performance metrics to identify areas where enhancements can have the greatest impact.
One of the most successful recent updates has been the introduction of the “My Plans” page within the My Disney Experience app. The feature consolidates dining reservations, Lightning Lane selections, hotel stays, and other trip details into a single location, making it easier for guests to manage their itineraries. Disney reported that the change resulted in a significant increase in guest satisfaction and ease of navigation.
The company has also upgraded its dining reservation system, allowing visitors to search more efficiently by date range and location. Disney said these improvements have led to higher satisfaction ratings and record feedback scores on its website.
Additional enhancements continue to roll out. Earlier this month, Disney simplified the online hotel check-in process by reducing the number of steps required for guests checking into resort hotels through the app. The company is also expanding a pilot luggage transfer program that allows participating airline passengers to have their luggage transported between the airport and select Disney resorts. Early guest feedback has been positive, prompting Disney to broaden the program to additional airline partners.
Looking ahead, Disney plans to introduce a completely redesigned My Disney Experience app with a more modern appearance and a stronger focus on the guest’s upcoming trip. The updated interface will feature vacation countdowns, personalized trip checklists, resort information, and theme park details displayed prominently on the home screen. The redesign will also include a softer color palette and simplified navigation intended to reduce stress and improve usability.
A key new feature will be an interactive trip checklist that guides guests through important planning milestones, such as booking dining reservations and selecting Lightning Lane experiences. Disney believes the tool will be especially valuable for first-time visitors who may feel overwhelmed by the complexity of planning a Disney vacation. The app will proactively surface tasks and reminders, helping guests stay organized throughout the planning process.
Disney is also making it easier for families and groups traveling together to coordinate their vacations. A new sharing feature will allow users to send a link to friends and family via text message, enabling them to join a trip and access shared plans. The enhancement is expected to be particularly useful for larger groups traveling from multiple households.
Search capabilities are also receiving a significant upgrade. As consumers increasingly rely on conversational searches powered by artificial intelligence, Disney is integrating AI-driven functionality into its website and app. Guests will be able to ask questions in natural language and receive summarized answers generated from information across the Disney World website. The goal is to help visitors find answers more quickly without having to navigate multiple webpages.
Another notable update is the expansion of language accessibility. While the My Disney Experience app has historically been available only in English, Disney plans to launch a Spanish-language version in the near future. The company’s website already supports multiple languages.
On DisneyWorld.com, new planning tools will help guests compare resort options, view pricing and availability calendars, and search across flexible travel dates. These features are intended to help visitors identify the best travel periods and accommodations for their needs while reducing the amount of time spent researching and comparing options.
Disney will also introduce contextual resort summaries that provide practical information travelers frequently seek, such as transportation options, estimated travel times to theme parks, and unique resort amenities. The company said these summaries are based on information guests have identified as important when making vacation decisions.
The enhancements will first launch for Walt Disney World before being introduced to Disneyland a few months later. Together, the updates represent one of Disney’s most comprehensive efforts in recent years to modernize its digital tools, reduce planning complexity, and create a more personalized experience for guests from the moment they begin planning their vacation.
