Dhaka Court Imposes Travel Ban on Jahangir Kabir Nanok, Wife, and Daughter in Money Laundering Case

A Dhaka court on Sunday issued a travel ban on former minister Jahangir Kabir Nanok, his wife Syeda Arjuman Banu, and their daughter S Amrin Rakhi in connection with an ongoing money laundering investigation.

The order was passed by Senior Special Judge of the Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Court, Md Zakir Hossain Galib, following a petition from the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

According to the ACC, Syeda Arjuman Banu—chairperson of Ratul Telecom Limited—along with her daughter and Nanok, allegedly laundered the equivalent of USD 3,32,84,681. The amount relates to payments from international incoming calls handled by an IGW (International Gateway) operator. The alleged crime falls under Section 2(Ka)(2) of the Anti-Money Laundering Act, 2012.

The ACC informed the court that there were concerns the accused might attempt to flee the country, potentially obstructing the ongoing investigation. Based on this, the court imposed the travel restrictions.
