All custom houses and customs stations across Bangladesh will remain partially operational during the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha holidays, excluding the day of Eid itself, to ensure the continuity of import-export activities. This directive was issued by the National Board of Revenue (NBR) through an official order signed by Second Secretary Mukitul Hasan (Customs and Policy) on Tuesday (May 20).
The order states that from June 5 to June 14—the period designated for the Eid-ul-Azha holidays—import and export-related activities should be kept running on a limited scale on both government and weekly holidays, except for the day of Eid.
Eid-ul-Azha is expected to be observed on June 6 or 7, depending on the moon sighting. The interim government’s advisory council has declared a 10-day public holiday from June 5 to June 14. Despite the extended break, customs operations will remain active during this period to prevent any disruption in international trade.
The move aims to facilitate smooth trade operations, particularly for essential and time-sensitive goods, during one of the country’s longest annual holiday breaks.
