Cummins, Hazlewood, and Green Return as Australia Name Squad for WTC Final Against South Africa

Australia has named a strong 15-man squad for the World Test Championship final against South Africa at Lord’s from June 11–15, featuring the return of captain Pat Cummins, pacer Josh Hazlewood, and all-rounder Cameron Green. All three missed the previous Test series in Sri Lanka due to injuries but have since made successful comebacks—Cummins and Hazlewood in the IPL, and Green in English county cricket following back surgery.

Teen batting sensation Sam Konstas has also been included and may open alongside Usman Khawaja. Konstas impressed with a rapid-fire 60 against India in his debut Test last December. Hazlewood has been in top form in the IPL, ranking third in the bowling charts, although a minor shoulder issue kept him out of his last match. Green, currently playing as a batsman for Gloucestershire, marked his return with a century.

Chair of selectors George Bailey expressed optimism about the team’s strength, highlighting recent Test series victories over Sri Lanka and India. Australia, the reigning WTC champions, aim to defend their title at Lord’s before heading to the West Indies for a three-Test series starting June 25.

Australia Squad:

Pat Cummins (capt), Scott Boland, Alex Carey, Cameron Green, Josh Hazlewood, Travis Head, Josh Inglis, Usman Khawaja, Sam Konstas, Matt Kuhnemann, Marnus Labuschagne, Nathan Lyon, Steve Smith, Mitchell Starc, Beau Webster.
