Cristiano Ronaldo’s son, Cristiano Jr., took a major step in following his father’s legendary footsteps by making his international debut for Portugal’s U-15 national team this week. The 14-year-old forward came on as a second-half substitute in a 4-1 victory over Japan, proudly wearing the iconic number seven jersey associated with his father.
Though he didn’t score, Cristiano Jr., who plays for Al Nassr’s youth academy, entered the match in the 53rd minute and drew attention from fans and media alike for his symbolic appearance. The emotional moment was witnessed by his grandmother, Maria Dolores, who was in attendance to support her grandson.
Rodrigo Cabral was the standout player of the night, netting a hat-trick by the 49th minute. Portugal extended their lead to 4-0 in the 73rd minute before Japan grabbed a consolation goal in the 82nd.
Despite being eligible to represent Spain, England, or the United States, Cristiano Jr. has chosen to play for Portugal—honoring his father’s heritage and keeping the Ronaldo name alive on the international stage.
