Bangladesh Betar’s regional station in Cox’s Bazar has launched a daily English-language news bulletin aimed at serving international tourists and foreign nationals residing or working in the region.
The new service was officially inaugurated on Thursday at the station’s auditorium on Link Road, with Bangladesh Betar Director General A S M Jahid attending as the chief guest.
Highlighting Cox’s Bazar as a key tourist hub and a center for international aid workers supporting the Rohingya crisis, Jahid noted that the English news bulletin was introduced to meet growing demand for accessible, timely news in the region.
Ahead of the launch, the Director General participated in an orientation session for newly listed Bangla and English newsreaders, distributing certificates to participants. He also toured the station and engaged in a staff meeting to discuss operations and future goals.
The ceremony was chaired by Mohammad Ashraf Kabir, Director of the Cox’s Bazar regional station, with Additional Director (Administration and Finance) Syed Zahidul Islam, Deputy News Controller Md. Mahmudun Nabi, and Assistant News Controller Shamima Nasrin Shumi also speaking at the event.
Later in the day, the Director General inspected the station’s perimeter wall and joined a meeting focused on enhancing security measures for the facility.
The English news bulletin airs daily at 4:30 PM, offering updates on local events, tourism, and regional developments.
