Court Freezes 38 Bank Accounts of Former Air Chief Sheikh Abdul Hannan and Family Amid Graft Probe

A Dhaka court on Saturday ordered the freezing of 38 bank accounts belonging to former Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Sheikh Abdul Hannan, his wife Tahmida Begum, and their son Sheikh Labib Hannan. The accounts collectively hold approximately Tk 11.83 million.

The order was issued by Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Zakir Hossain Galib following a petition from Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Deputy Director Md Tanzeer Hasib Sarkar.

The ACC is currently investigating Sheikh Hannan on charges including abuse of power, embezzlement, bribery, illegal recruitment practices, money laundering, and possession of unexplained wealth. A three-member probe team has been assigned to the case.

According to the ACC, the urgent action was taken due to concerns that Hannan and his family were attempting to transfer or hide assets, potentially causing financial loss to the state.
