A Dhaka court has barred former Deputy Speaker and Awami League leader Md. Shamsul Haque Tuku and his sons SM Asif Shams and SM Nafiz Shams from leaving the country, while also ordering the blocking of their National Identity Cards (NIDs). The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), which is investigating the trio for alleged illegal wealth accumulation through political influence, filed the petition. The court order aims to prevent them from fleeing or transferring assets that could obstruct the investigation. Tuku, currently in jail for a separate case, is accused of engaging in serious economic crimes.
