Over 100 people, including teachers, students, and journalists, were injured on Wednesday as police used tear gas, batons, and stun grenades to disperse a protest march by Jagannath University (JnU) students and faculty toward the Chief Adviser’s residence. At least 30 were hospitalized, prompting strong condemnation from JnU officials and a vow to continue protests until their three key demands—including housing allowance, full budget approval, and a second campus—are met.
Simultaneously, nursing students blocked the Shahbagh intersection, demanding their diploma programs be recognized as equivalent to undergraduate degrees. Despite breaking through police barricades, they pledged to continue the blockade until the government issues an official notification. Both groups have warned of intensified protests if their demands remain unaddressed.
