China has rolled over $3.4 billion in loans to Pakistan, including $2.1 billion kept in the central bank’s reserves for three years and a refinanced $1.3 billion commercial loan repaid by Islamabad two months ago. Combined with $1 billion from Middle Eastern banks and $500 million in multilateral financing, Pakistan’s foreign exchange reserves have now reached $14 billion, meeting IMF requirements. The funding boost comes as Pakistan implements reforms under its $7 billion IMF bailout to stabilise its economy.
