The Chinese government has donated dengue prevention materials to support Bangladesh in tackling its rapidly increasing dengue cases. The materials will be officially handed over to Bangladeshi authorities on Thursday at the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS). The ceremony will be attended by Prof Dr Md Sayedur Rahman, Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser for Health, Dr Liu Yuyin, Charge d’Affaires of the Chinese Embassy, and Prof Dr Md Abu Jafor, Director General of DGHS.
In June alone, Bangladesh reported 5,951 dengue cases and 19 deaths, a sharp rise from May’s 1,773 cases and three deaths, as the monsoon season worsens the mosquito-borne outbreak.
