China Begins Importing Bangladeshi Mangoes, Eyes Expanded Agricultural Trade

Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Yao Wen hailed the first air shipment of Bangladeshi fresh mangoes to China as a milestone in deepening economic cooperation between the two nations. Speaking at the departure ceremony on Wednesday, Ambassador Yao emphasized that the mango export not only boosts bilateral trade but embodies the “mutually beneficial and win-win essence of economic cooperation.”

He noted that access to China’s vast consumer market will help Bangladesh upgrade its mango industry, generate employment, and support broader socio-economic development. China is also considering importing raw animal hides and has initiated market access reviews for other Bangladeshi fruits, including guavas and jackfruits.

Ambassador Yao expressed optimism that this initiative marks the beginning of broader agricultural exports to China, aligned with President Xi Jinping’s vision of an increasingly open Chinese market.
