Chhatra Shibir Accuses Chhatra Dal and Leftist Groups of Terrorism, Warns of Resistance

Bangladesh Islami Chhatra Shibir has strongly condemned the activities of Chhatra Dal and various leftist student organizations, labeling them as “terrorist acts” in a joint statement issued by central president Zahidul Islam and secretary general Nurul Islam Saddam on May 31.

The statement alleges that these groups are engaged in crimes such as extortion, drug trafficking, and violence against women, citing incidents at institutions like Dhaka Graphic Arts College, KUET, Cox’s Bazar Polytechnic, and several Chittagong colleges. Shibir also claimed its members were attacked at a help desk in Chittagong Government Commerce College.

They criticized the silence of feminist and human rights organizations in response to alleged incidents of abuse and threats involving Chhatra Dal leaders, including cases in Faridpur and Adabor. The statement compared Chhatra Dal to the banned Chhatra League, accusing both of suppressing students through coercion.

Warning of potential mobilization, Shibir declared that if such actions continue, they will form a “strong resistance” inspired by the spirit of the July Uprising, and demanded that the so-called “red terrorists” be brought to justice.
