Chattogram Court Denies Bail to Chinmoy Krishna Das in Five Cases, Including Lawyer Alif’s Murder

A Chattogram court on Tuesday rejected bail for Sammilito Sanatani Jagran Jote spokesperson Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari in five separate cases, including the high-profile murder of lawyer Saiful Islam Alif.

Chittagong Metropolitan Magistrate Abu Bakar Siddique issued the order following a bail hearing where Chinmoy’s lawyer, Apurba Kumar Ghosh, sought bail on medical grounds, citing his client’s deteriorating health. The court, however, dismissed all five petitions.

The cases include Alif’s murder, three cases under the Vandalism and Explosive Substances Act tied to incidents on November 26, and an additional case filed by Alif’s brother.

Assistant Public Prosecutor Raihanul Wazed Chowdhury confirmed the denial of all bail applications. Chinmoy was arrested on November 25 last year at Dhaka’s Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in connection with a separate sedition case.
