Chandpur experienced the second highest rainfall in the country, recording 242 millimeters in a 24-hour period starting from 9:00 AM Thursday, according to Shah Mohamad Shoyeb of the Chandpur Climate Office. Rainfall significantly decreased afterward, with only 11 millimeters recorded in the following six hours.
Despite the intense downpour, passenger ferry services on the Chandpur-Dhaka and Chandpur-Shariatpur routes remain unaffected. Chandpur Sadar UNO Shakhawat Jamil Chowdhury confirmed that the overall situation is stable with no major incidents reported.
The heavy rainfall was caused by a deep low-pressure system originating in the Bay of Bengal, currently affecting the coastal regions with storms and widespread showers.
