Chief Election Commissioner AMM Nasir Uddin stated on Tuesday that his recent meeting with Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus did not include any discussion on the upcoming national election date. Speaking to reporters in Dhaka, Nasir Uddin emphasized that the conversation focused on the Election Commission’s readiness to conduct free, fair, and credible polls. Describing the meeting as a courtesy call and their first formal interaction, he assured that preparations are in full swing despite various challenges. The CEC dismissed speculation about his absence from office, clarifying he was hospitalized due to illness, and defended meeting the Chief Adviser, noting it was appropriate under a non-partisan caretaker administration. While no election timelines were finalized, he said preparations are being made for possible polls in February or April.
