Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) demolished over 100 illegal shops occupying footpaths in Station Road, New Market intersection, and Riazuddin Bazar on Thursday. Led by Regional Executive Officer Pranoy Chakma, the three-hour drive also fined 12 shopkeepers a total of Tk 17,000 for operating without valid trade licenses under the Local Government (City Corporation) Act, 2009. Hawkers were warned not to operate before 3 PM and to use only wheeled mobile stalls, with permanent or temporary structures on footpaths strictly prohibited. CCC announced similar drives will continue to ease pedestrian movement and reduce public inconvenience.
