Bucks Waive Damian Lillard to Sign Myles Turner in Major Roster Shakeup

The Milwaukee Bucks have waived star guard Damian Lillard, stretching his remaining $113 million contract over five years to create cap space for acquiring free agent center Myles Turner. Turner signed a four-year, $107 million deal with a player option for the 2028-29 season and a 15% trade kicker. Lillard, recovering from Achilles surgery, welcomed the move, allowing him to rehab in Portland while receiving his full contract payout.

Turner, who spent 10 seasons with the Pacers, brings elite shot-blocking and floor spacing, having averaged 15.6 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 2.0 blocks last season while shooting nearly 40% from three. The Bucks also traded Pat Connaughton and two future second-round picks to the Hornets for guard Vasilije Micic, re-signed Jericho Sims, and signed veteran Gary Harris as they aggressively retool around Giannis Antetokounmpo in pursuit of another championship.
