A bomb attack targeting a government vehicle in Bajaur district, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan, killed at least five people, including Assistant Commissioner Faisal Ismail, on Wednesday (June 2). The powerful blast on Nawagai Road in Sadiqabad area also killed Tehsildar Abdul Wakil, Subedar Noor Hakim, Police Constable Rashid, and a civilian, leaving 11 others injured.
District Police Officer Waqas Rafiq said the targeted vehicle was completely destroyed. The attack comes amid rising terrorist activities by Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), which ended its ceasefire in November 2022. Pakistan currently ranks second in the 2025 Global Terrorism Index.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Inspector General of Police Zulfiqar Hamid ordered intelligence-led operations against the TTP and dispatched a special team to Bajaur. President Asif Ali Zardari condemned the attack, calling terrorists enemies of humanity and reaffirming Pakistan’s determination to eradicate terrorism. Security has been tightened in the area following the blast.
