BNP’s M A Malik Criticizes Wealth Inequality and Infrastructure Deals in Sylhet-3 Campaign

Bangladesh Jatiyotabadi Dal (BNP) Chairperson’s Adviser M A Malik has criticized sudden wealth accumulation and controversial infrastructure projects during his voter outreach ahead of the February 2026 parliamentary elections in Sylhet-3. Speaking at a Dakshin Surma community dialogue on June 30, Malik stated, “Those who become rich overnight are usually criminals or thieves,” and alleged that USD 102 billion was laundered from Bangladesh under the former government, citing a private conversation with the Bangladesh Bank Governor.

He condemned the Corridor project as a “road inside Bangladesh that Bangladeshis won’t be allowed to use,” and raised concerns over Rampal and Chittagong port projects being “handed over to India.” Malik called on Chief Adviser Dr Muhammad Yunus to protect Bangladesh from such policies.

During his keynote to a working-class audience organised by Sylhet Sadar Trust, Malik emphasised national unity and Bangladeshi nationalism as envisioned by Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman, ensuring peaceful coexistence among all communities. He highlighted urgent infrastructure needs in Dakshin Surma, Balaganj, and Fenchuganj, directing Local Government Engineering Department officials to seek necessary grants and promising to meet the Chief Adviser soon to discuss development priorities.

Malik, known for leading anti-Hasina protests across Europe, urged BNP-affiliated local leaders to secure budgetary support for ongoing projects, assuring attendees of his intervention whenever needed as he intensifies his campaign in Sylhet-3.
