BNP’s Ishraque Hossain Demands Resignation of Two Government Advisers Over Political Bias

BNP leader Ishraque Hossain has called for the immediate resignation of Local Government Adviser Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuiyan and Information Adviser Mahfuz Alam, accusing them of political bias and potential future participation in elections.

In a Facebook post on Wednesday morning (May 21), Ishraque questioned the advisers’ neutrality, stating that their apparent political affiliations undermine the interim government’s credibility. “If you’re already associated with a political party or planning to contest elections, is it unreasonable to demand your resignation?” he wrote.

He added that stepping down would help preserve the interim government’s image of impartiality, while encouraging both advisers to formally join a political party and gain experience through organizational involvement.

The statement comes as Ishraque’s supporters threaten to paralyze Dhaka with escalating protests over the dispute surrounding his DSCC mayoral appointment.
