BNP Urges Chief Advisor Yunus to Reform Advisory Council, Citing Bias and Political Division

BNP standing committee member Salahuddin Ahmed has called on Chief Advisor Professor Muhammad Yunus to urgently reform the interim government’s advisory council, alleging that it lacks impartiality and includes individuals with partisan affiliations.

Speaking at a discussion held at the Ramna Engineers Institution on May 29, marking the 44th martyrdom anniversary of BNP founder Ziaur Rahman, Salahuddin claimed that certain advisors are aligned with specific political ideologies, undermining national unity and creating distrust among various parties and institutions.

He criticized the chief advisor’s recent speech suggesting only one party demanded elections by December and urged Yunus not to use reform as a pretext to delay polls. Salahuddin asserted that reforms based on national consensus could be implemented swiftly and, if not, should be addressed by an elected parliament.

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, joining virtually, echoed the call for renewed democratic struggle, urging the public to rally behind party leader Tarique Rahman and demand immediate elections.
