BNP Chairperson’s advisor Mahbub Uddin Khokon has accused the Chief Advisor and the Election Commission of violating the constitution by failing to hold parliamentary elections within the mandated 90-day period.
Speaking at a discussion marking the 44th martyrdom anniversary of former President Ziaur Rahman, organized by the Bangladesh Krishi Bank Employees Union in Dhaka on June 1, Khokon warned that prolonged delays could destabilize the country and potentially derail the electoral process under the current government.
He further alleged that the interim government aims to follow a “voteless” path similar to previous administrations led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
CBA President Fayez Uddin Ahmed echoed criticism, accusing Hasina of betraying the BNP despite having been politically rehabilitated by Ziaur Rahman.
