The Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA) and Bangladesh Economic Zones Authority (BEZA) Executive Chairman Chowdhury Ashik Mahmud Bin assured political leaders that no investment decision would compromise national interests. Speaking at a policy dialogue on Tuesday at the BIDA headquarters in Dhaka, he emphasized that investment strategies must align with the country’s sovereignty, security, and long-term resilience.
The event brought together representatives from 16 political parties, including Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, Gana Songhati Andolan, and Nagorik Oikya, who voiced strong support for BIDA’s reform agenda and called for special focus on domestic investors. They also urged improvements in infrastructure, legal clarity, worker protections, and environmentally responsible investments.
BIDA’s Head of Business Development, Nahian Rahman Rachi, outlined the organization’s reform plan and highlighted five key investment challenges: quality of government services, policy continuity, industry consultation, corruption, and resource access. He shared recent progress and feedback from over 200 local stakeholders.
BIDA pledged continued engagement with political parties and announced future reforms will include specific strategies to support local investors.
