Voting is in progress for the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) at two key centres—Radisson Blu Water Garden Hotel in Dhaka and Radisson Blu Hotel Chattogram Bay View. The polls, running from 8AM to 5PM, mark the first election since the board was dissolved over seven months ago amid political unrest.
Seventy-six candidates from three panels—Forum, Sammilito Parishad, and Oikko Parishad—are vying for 35 director positions. Sammilito Parishad and Forum are contesting all seats, while Oikko Parishad has fielded candidates for six.
Post-election, the newly elected directors will appoint the BGMEA’s president, vice presidents, and other office bearers for the 2025–27 term. Each panel has released its own manifesto, with Oikko Parishad presenting a 16-point agenda, Forum offering 14 points, and Sammilito Parishad outlining a 12-point pledge.
