The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has received government approval to move forward with the national team’s upcoming five-match T20I series against Pakistan, scheduled to begin later this month. BCB President Farque Ahmed confirmed the development to the media, though the board is still awaiting the official clearance letter before finalizing the tour.
The series had been in doubt due to recent India-Pakistan tensions, which also caused delays in the Indian Premier League (IPL) and Pakistan Super League (PSL). The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has since proposed a revised schedule, with matches set to start on May 27 in Faisalabad and wrap up on June 5 in Lahore. The adjustments were made to accommodate the PSL’s resumption on May 17.
While the government has greenlit the tour, concerns over player safety remain. Some Bangladeshi players have expressed hesitation about traveling to Pakistan due to security issues. The BCB has reassured that no player will be forced to participate and will hold discussions with the team to address their concerns. Player safety and comfort will remain a top priority before making any final decisions.
