Bangladesh’s Foreign Reserves Cross $31 Billion with Record Remittance Inflows

Bangladesh’s foreign currency reserves surpassed $31 billion at the end of June 2025, fueled by an unprecedented surge in remittances. Bangladesh Bank data released Tuesday shows gross reserves reached $31.68 billion, supported by a record $30.21 billion in remittance receipts for the fiscal year ending June 29, the highest in the country’s history. Under the IMF’s BPM6 calculation, net reserves stand at $26.66 billion. The sharp rise highlights remittance’s crucial role in strengthening Bangladesh’s external position, providing a robust buffer for import payments and external obligations while boosting macroeconomic confidence.
